Acapulco
Area Beaches

Caleta and Caletilla
Classic Acapulco beaches protected from the sea by their position facing Roqueta
Island. The gentle waves and soft sand are ideal for tourists, and they can be
enjoyed nearly every day of the year.
La Roqueta
On the island of the same name, La Roqueta is a must for any visit to Acapulco.
You can reach the island on a glass-bottomed boat from where you can enjoy views
of the ocean floor, with its varied plant and animal life, as well as an image
known as the submerged virgin, the patron saint of fishermen, poured on site by
local fishermen.
Tlacopanocha Beach
Tlacopanocha is in the heart of downtown Acapulco, just across from the Zocalo
and near the pier where the local fishing boats dock. The waves are gentle and
you can enjoy the surrounding areas.
Langosta Beach
If you prefer smaller beaches, this is the best in town, facing the open sea
near La Quebrada
Pie de la Cuesta
If you have ever seen a photograph or video of one of Acapulco's magnificent
sunsets, it was most likely taken at this beach 10 kilometers northwest of the
city, where the waves break with irresistible force, displaying their might
against the smallness and frailty of man.
Barra Vieja
Also an excellent place to marvel at the power of the sea, with waves breaking
on the light gray sands of its steeply sloping beaches.
La Condesa
This beach is not to be missed. It is the heart of the Zona Dorada and therefore
of the bay, where celebration, sand and sea converge.
Puerto Marqués
The bay of Puerto Marques lies to the southeast of Acapulco, and is ideal for
water sports; the waves are calm and the beaches are lined with typical regional
vegetation.
Tamarindos, Hornos and Hornitos
Although their names are similar to typical Mexican beverages, these beaches are
in fact the bases of local fishing operations, and you can see the fishermen
preparing their boats in the mornings. These beaches, lined with dense palm
groves, are between the Las Hamacas and Paraiso Acapulco hotels on the northwest
side of the bay.
Playa Icacos
Acapulco's longest beach, with towering waves near the President Hotel, and
fairly calm waters near the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Both of these hotels are on the
south side of the bay.
Scenic viewpoints
Acapulco's grandeur can be appreciated from a number of viewpoints. One is on
the scenic road to the airport, with a panoramic view of Puerto Marques Bay, its
docks and the small boats that sail along El Revolcadero beach. Another is at
Brisa Diamante, near the hotel of the same name, from where you can see the bay
of Acapulco, the port, the nearby islands and the ships entering and leaving the
bay.
