Location from the Airport

The "General Juan N. Alvarez"International Airport is 26 kilometers southeast of Acapulco along Boulevard de las Naciones, in Colonia Plan de los Amantes and the journey into town takes about 35 minutes along a scenic road. There is an airport bus service and the airport itself has most of the usual facilities such as car hire, authorized taxi service, cafeteria, bar and magazine and souvenir shop. Tel. 01 (7) 466-9446

Time Zone

Acapulco is in the same time zone as Mexico City and applies the summer schedule simultaneously with the rest of the country. In Mexico, the summer schedule is applied at the same time as all the countries in the world, setting the clock forward one hour between the months of April and October, although this year it was applied until the month of may.

Currency

The Mexican peso is the local currency. Although, dollar bills will be accepted by most businesses, taxi drivers, hotels, and restaurants. Traveler checks are widely accepted in major hotels.

It is difficult to handle American coins, as they are not accepted in banks or currency exchange offices. The best bet is to use coins for tips only.

Weather

Temperatures fluctuate between 24 and 33°C, depending on the altitude (the local climate is warm and semi-warm). The rainfall season is mainly during summer, when the ocean generally receives warm currents, which are somewhat more tempered during the area's brief winter season.
